The silver I work with is .999+ pure fine silver. I am also inspired by wood, stone and other "organic" mediums. I use only the highest quality components and positive energy. Each of my silver items are fire melted and poured in hand made, one time use molds that I painstakingly create for each piece. I then form each item with my fingers and emotion as if I were to keep it myself and pass it down to my children. I embrace the luxury of people liking my pieces enough to purchase them. This has become a necessary labor of love in supporting our family. I will share some of the results here. Visit the links to see recent examples.

Silver Turtle with turquoise and red coral.

This silver turtle is inlayed with over 200 small stones. The turtle was very difficult to cast and shape. I did the inlay under a 20x microscope. I crushed the stones personally to the approximate size then picked out the specific stones that would fit in like little puzzle pieces. This took about fourteen hours to make.

Silver Angel in Cedar and Crushed Opal

This is a silver angel I cast into an ingot about the size of two nickels stacked. I then carved a small bowl from a piece of cedar branch to countersink the ingot exactly. I then inset the angel ingot into the cedar bowl. I proceeded to surround it in crushed opal and finally sealed it all in crystal clear jewelers cement. Hard to see the depth in the photo.

This is cast from an arrowhead I found in the mountains of North Carolina. I really love the way the silver reflects from all the odd angled surfaces. This was tricky to make as I needed to retain the contrasting tooling marks during the shaping and polishing process. Making the one time use mold justifies a whole blog in itself.

As a photographer and graphic designer, my organic approach is adhered to without compromise. As an author well, that will be for you to decide.

Hand Made Silver and Organic Jewelry

I attended the Dayton Art Institute in the early '70's. I was very inspired by the theater and arts. My parents really stepped up to the plate. Lacking a stage presence, I became an engineer and toolmaker for most of my life which, did help scratch my creative itch but, I have now been removed from the corporate world and I still need to scratch! Creating meaningful items from the "materials" around me has always been quite satisfying.

Writer

I have written two books and I never pursued publishing. Really was not a priority however, I did submit a section to a contest and I won an award. Supposedly it's published in a book series that is a repository of unknown poets. I still have yet to get a copy. I seemingly have received acknowledgement but, don't yet control the monetary resources to pursue traditional publishing so, I plan to publish it all right here folks.
